Any musician knows. Sometimes, you get together with another musician, and something clicks. Every note, every little slice of phrasing, every nuance, no matter how small, seems to fit and fall together perfectly. For Makel, it was no different. It started with Mike Gargano and John in a Monroe basement, and though it seemed right, the obvious key elements were missing - lead guitar and bass. Angel came down to audition on a Monday night, and that night, everything moved smoothly like a perfectly engineered machine. Dan came to the band through an ad placed in a local newspaper. From there, Makel had an official beginning. With Dan's tasteful bass lines working in tandem with Mike's creative chops, John's soulful voice and Angel's quick-fingered riffs, a monster was created, ready to burst onto the scene with both fists balled, and a roaring voice that demands the crowd's attention. Makel's sound is completely distinct and bravely new. Memorable song melodies are supported by the band's solid musical ability and delivered with contrapuntal flair that works in a pop sense. They have effectively been able to merge pop and rock with a singer/songwriter mentality and deliverance unmatched by any of their contemporaries. In their songs, the listener will find an ever-present yet different emotion underlining every song. Makel's musical versatility is another of its unique attributes. The ability for Makel to play its music in either full electric or acoustic format without losing the slightest bit of integrity has paved the way for many more venue opportunities. They aren't afraid to expose themselves in any light and their confidence pours through every note, chop, and riff, especially in their live performances. They truly are a band that feels "at home" on the stage. "In Makel, I have found the perfect people to collaborate with, giving me the motivation to push my creativity as a songwriter further than ever before." This one phrase, spoken by Dan, best describes the idea behind this driven band. Simply put, you could say that Makel has one purpose - to create music that inspires, excites, and moves its listeners.
